IUI and progesterone

Progesterone is a hormone that is produced naturally by the ovaries to ensure that the uterus is prepared for the embryo’s implantation. The hormone helps the endometrial lining of the uterus to be receptive to the embryos. The progesterone supplements are given after the IUI procedure to increase the probability of fertilization and implantation. These supplements will also support the early developmental stages of the pregnancy.

Your fertility expert may choose to give you progesterone in the form of vaginal suppositories, oral tablets or injections.
