Low-quality eggs in IVF
Egg quality is everything when it comes to the success of embryo implantation. When a woman is in her late 30s, the number of healthy eggs gradually decreases. As the woman enters the late 40s, the number of poor-quality eggs are more than healthy ones. This means that the chances of pregnancy decrease with age. While no treatment exists to improve the quality of the egg, In-vitro repeated fertilization deals with multiple egg extraction hoping that some of them would be healthy. If IVF failure occurs due to poor egg quality, a donor egg might lead to a successful pregnancy.
