Vaginal spotting or spotting is rare but possible when a woman undergoes IUI as a fertility treatment. When the catheter is placed inside the uterus, it may bump into parts like the cervix causing a slight amount of bleeding that manifests as vaginal spotting. This should not cause any worry as it has little to no effect of the chances of pregnancy. When the embryo implants itself into the uterine lining, there might be some amount of vaginal spotting. If you experience heavy bleeding after the IUI procedure, it is important to bring it to your fertility expert’s notice immediately.
