There are no additional risks involved in undertaking an embryo biopsy or a pre-genetic diagnosis. The risk profile remains just the same as a normal IVF procedure. However, like with any medical procedure there is a minimal risk of embryo damage during the course of extraction. Also, at times the test results may not be 100% reliable or conclusive to the satisfaction of the parents concerned.
