Is there a risk for twins or triplets with IUI?
Yes, there is an inherent risk multiple and higher order pregnancies with IUI – especially so if the patient is taking ovary-stimulating medication before the IUI procedure. This is caused by the medication that matures multiple follicles and thus, there is a chance that during ovulation, the will body releases more than one egg, resulting in the possibility of multiple or higher order births. This happens in about 10-20 percent of cases involving IUI.
