What are the risks of IUI?
Intrauterine insemination is a relatively simple and safe fertility procedure, with a relatively lower risk profile. Some of the common risks include – possible infections as a consequence of the procedure; spotting caused by the placing of the catheter into the uterus; and the risk of multiple pregnancies caused by the release & fertilization of multiple eggs.
In women, there is a possibility of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome because of the body’s response to hormonal medication. This can lead to ovarian swelling, pain, nausea amongst others.
